Recife has very few cycleways. The major does not work for people. This is a cycleway in a rich neighborhood of the town. In poor neighborhoods, cycleways does not exist.
In the last years I've been crossing all over Germany and, believe me, quite a lot of cycling paths are exactly the same as the one in the picture. Moreover, what makes things even worse, is that most of them are not very well maintained at all and several times I did prefer to go along the normal road, even if in this case it would not be allowed to bcycles !!!
